Popoola Solomon Rotimi started his football career as a teenager, where he played as a striker before he dedicated himself to mastering the art of goalkeeping in secondary school when his school team lacked goalkeepers. He volunteered to fill the void — a bold move that would define his future in football.

He participated in several secondary school games. And at the university level, Rotimi rose to become the Number 1 choice at the University of Maiduguri main football school team that participated at the 2012 edition of Nuga games in Jos, Plateau State.

During his service year in Bauchi, Rotimi had a stint with Wikki Tourist Feeders and the National NYSC football team in 2013-2014, after which he moved on and held sway with Fire Service, playing in the Nationwide League One (NLO) in 2015-2017. He joined Setraco FC to play in the NLO 2018-2022, and also enjoyed successes when he joined EFCC FC in 2022-2023.

Rotimi is currently a certified coach, having obtained a basic coaching certificate from the National Institute for Sports (NIS).

He has since tried his hands in coaching with several clubs which includes former club, EFCC FC, Blaze Football Academy, Glading Stars FC, and several others, and with his recent acquisition of NFF D Licence in 2025, Rotimi stands as a symbol of growth and dedication.
